AI Engineer & Researcher ยท Building Tech Solutions for Africa
I design and build AI systems that tackle problems in healthcare, education, and communities across Africa, with a focus on computer vision, deep learning, and research you can deploy in the real world.
Iโm a first year Computer Science student and AI practitioner focused on building practical, deployable AI systems for healthcare, education, and community impact in The Gambia and across Africa.
My journey started at Nusrat Senior Secondary School, where curiosity about technology grew into running one of the most active ICT Clubs in the country, publishing research, and mentoring younger students. After graduating highshool, I worked as a Data Science Intern at the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia, part of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
Today, I work on computer vision and deep learning projects, including pneumonia detection, medical imaging, and tools that help local teams access data and research more easily.
Through talks, workshops, and my YouTube channel CBJtech, I share the lessons, mistakes, and wins from my journey so more young Africans can see themselves in AI and scientific research.

50+ videos breaking down AI/ML, coding fundamentals, and tech careers for students across Africa.
Invited speaker at Google DevFest Banjul (2x), PyCon Senegambia, UTG ICT Week, and STEM events across schools.
Research on AI for water safety, crop diseases, and medical imaging, with preprints on Google Scholar.
When I'm not coding or researching, you'll find me playing sports, spending time with family, and eating way too much chocolate.
Selected to present a machine learning project at the Deep Learning Indaba, Rwanda.
Offered accommodation support as part of the acceptance.
(Unable to attend due to funding constraints.)
Recognized as the April's Best Team Member at Obentas Global Technology Company during my contract as the Lead AI Intern.
Awarded by my highschool at my graduation for serving the ICT Club as President and Lead Instructor.
Published research preprints and conducted applied AI work during high school in The Gambia, uncommon at the secondary level.
