01 / About
My path into technology started at Nusrat Senior Secondary School, where curiosity about technology grew into leading the ICT Club, teaching students to code, and co-founding Coders Hub. I became ICT Club President and Lead Instructor, helping build a 150+ member student technology community.
That foundation led me into AI and scientific research. At MRC Unit The Gambia at LSHTM, I worked on computer vision, medical imaging, and machine learning projects, including pneumonia detection and CNN classifiers. I later joined the International Telecommunication Union as a Young AI Expert Intern, working on an AI-assisted prototype focused on internal information retrieval and workflow processes.
Today, I work in AI & Digital Innovation at UNICEF Gambia while continuing to build products and contribute to the technology ecosystem. Alongside co-founding Voltify and JobMatch AI, I co-organize Hack4Gambia and lead the Data Science & AI Club and Research Club at the University of The Gambia School of ICT. I also share what I learn through talks, workshops, and my YouTube channel, CBJtech.

AI-powered employment and career platform connecting job seekers, employers, and training providers across Africa through intelligent opportunity matching and career guidance.
Selected as one of 10 finalists from 34 applicants at the Deep Learning Indaba 2026 Startup Pitch Competition. Demonstrated the platform to government, industry, and career-development stakeholders, including The Gambia's Minister of Higher Education, Research and Technology. Product featured on QTV.
IoT smart energy management system designed to make prepaid electricity easier to understand and manage.
Features real-time electricity monitoring, usage tracking, predictive low-balance alerts, mobile money integration, remote power control, and smart meter hardware. Demonstrated a working prototype to representatives from UNICEF, MoBSE, and the Government of Japan.
Lightweight three-class CNN for childhood pneumonia screening, designed with resource-constrained healthcare environments in mind. Classes: Normal, Infiltrate, Consolidation.
Full-stack geospatial dashboard processing NASA Earth observation data to provide urban planners with insights on city growth, air quality, and vegetation trends.
PyTorch CNN trained on a 25,000-image dataset with Grad-CAM visualizations for model interpretation.
National hackathon initiative bringing together university students, high school participants, mentors, judges, and professionals to create a platform for technology innovation in The Gambia.

My research interests span computer vision, machine learning, scientific computing, and applied AI for problems in healthcare, agriculture, water safety, and African communities.
Early research exploring machine learning and low-cost sensors to support detection of harmful bacteria in water and improve access to safer drinking water in low-resource settings.
